Fall-ing into the season of gratitude and giving

September brings new school routines and hopefully more nice Fall weather – I’m really loving these sunny days with a high of 76 or so.  Soon we’ll be changing time back an hour, so now seems to be the beginning of Fall and the holiday season.  This month is also Childhood Cancer Awareness month and we are excited to boost awareness and keep spreading joy.  This is when we get the majority of our toy drives, card making and other events going – over 80%! It’s also the season of gratitude as we get so many donations during the next few months that it helps support ZTC until the early Spring. Based on the numbers from Duke Children’s Hospital from last summer it seems like the donations may not stretch as far as they have in the past.

Childhood cancer is not rare and almost 400 kids are seen weekly just on the Duke Children’s Hematology-Oncology floor. This is a significant increase of kids each week, which means donations do not go as far as they used to. Zach’s Toy Chest is also working with more areas of each hospital and clinics so we are reaching more kids in various stages of treatment.  All of this together means we need donations of new toys and other essentials for the kids more than ever. We are hoping everyone will dig deep and give the best way you can – either by volunteering or donating items, supplies or a monetary donation. Each way helps us reach our goal of keeping the toy chests filled and kids smiling through treatment at 3 area hospitals in North Carolina.

See what good your donation is doing!

We couldn’t keep up with the demand without each and every one of our supporters and want to genuinely thank each of you for your efforts. It means the world to us that we can make such a difference in the lives of each child touched by ZTC because we have you behind us.

As you are shopping online this holiday season, please keep in mind that by using this link from Amazon Smile, ZTC will receive a percentage of your purchase in the form of a donation!

We are actively seeking local businesses, schools, churches and more to host toy drives this holiday season.  If you are interested, please reach out – we’d love to hear from you!

We have a few events coming up quickly over the next 2 months so make sure to check them out here!

If you have any questions on how to volunteer or how your donation will be used, please feel free to leave a comment or contact us and we’ll get back to you.  Don’t forget to Like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter  and check us out on Instagram!  You can always reach us by email at info@zachstoychest.org if you have questions or would like to help!
